Slaves of Thomas F Drayton of Magnolia Plantation, Hilton Head, South Carolina, 1862.

Welcome To SlaveryFacts.org

On Saturday, March 21, 2015, in my beautiful city of New Orleans I had the honor of attending a symposium on slavery titled SOLD. The event was a collaboration of The New Orleans Collection and the University of Virginia.  At first, I was hesitant to attend because I was very familiar with the topic of Slavery – but that mind blowing six-hour lecture series taught me things I never knew - while confirming the knowledge I had accumulated. Having said that, I left the event humbled in the worst way. There were professors, of other races, who knew more about the history of my family (the American Slave) than I ever thought possible, unhidden facts that were public domain.

As I moseyed back to my car, I made a vow that day to knowing everything there is to know about the bondage my ancestors endured once they arrived in America. That brilliant symposium also helped me to realize that I can become just as prolific in this genre of American History - if I gain exposure the books they have read. SlaveryFact.org is an ever-expanding quest to know all that there is to know about Slavery and teach every intricate detail of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade.

On this site, you will not find sensationalism designed to shock – but simply the truth about the daily lives of slaves.

At SlaveryFact.org we promise only to post facts that have been well researched and proven to true according to the highest university academic standards. We promise to continuously update this online resource, as well as provide commentary on Slavery related issues that are still relevant in post reconstruction America. Finally, we promise to structure our content in ways that are easily accessible without annoying ad popups.

As Founder it is my hope that you enjoy this website just as much as I enjoy it working here every day. At SlaveryFacts.org we believe that Slavery is the story of you - the story of us - and the story of American.

Thank You
